Fall Hair Colors 2020

Fall 2020 Hair Color Trends

There was no better time to experiment with your hair than in 2020.  With hair salons shut down and us not being able to see our stylist, we looked for a way to fix our hair ourselves, usually after a glass of wine or two.  Some of the most popular quarantine hair trends for fall hair colors included chunky highlights, copper highlights, and brown ombre hair or balayage, as these were the easiest trends to follow.  Those with brown hair who were bold enough to attempt blonde hair or a blonde balayage (with or without citric acid), soon after realized why it costs so much to get your hair done with a colorist, as their new hair color turned out so orange that not enough purple shampoo in the world could have been able to fix the damage.

Fast forward to when the leaves started to fall in October, everyone was searching for the must have fall hair colors 2020, while sipping  on their pumpkin spice latte.  So what were the best fall hair colors and where were people getting their fall hair color ideas from?  When finding the perfect fall inspiration for fall brown hair colors, Pinterest is a great way to find the perfect image so that we can show our hair stylist exactly what we want.  Other times, we search for our favorite celebrity on the runway/red carpet as inspiration so that we, too, can be a trendsetter (because celebs have to be trendy, right?) Just make sure you find the right place and a stylist that will actually listen to what color and cut you want so that you don’t show up on Thanksgiving with short brown hair, looking like Lord Farquaad like I did.

It turns out that different colors can end up complimenting our facial features or skin tone.  If you have brown hair, one of the remarkable ways to add dimension (especially if you’re low on cash) is by adding two blonde strands as a front frame.  It is your best bet, as it is not only cheap but can also make a huge difference in your appearance.

As our summer glow fades and the cooler days/winter starts to approach, people typically tend to stray away from blonde hair and tend to gravitate towards brunette or brown hair, as the richer tones compliment our paler skin.  Some other popular hair colors for the fall include brown auburn hair, light brown hair, dark brown hair, chocolate brown hair, cinnamon hair color, caramel blonde, red blonde hair, or a more chestnut/caramel hue.

Blonde, brunette or bronde, finding inspiration for your next salon visit can be difficult.  Whether you’re searching for next hairstyles or new color of choice for the future coming season, it is important to take a couple of things into consideration so that you can be a trendsetter .  The first, being, your natural color and skin tone, as different colors and variations can either be complimentary or unflattering.

To recap, we talked mostly about hair colors for Fall 2020, which included richer tones (light brown hair, red blonde hair, brown ombre hair, brown auburn hair, cinnamon hair color.)  Since we covered most of the fall season hair color trends and the fall hair color ideas, let’s now talk about hair styles for both Fall and Winter.  Nailing the new hot fall hair colors is great, but how will you style your hair during that time of year?

One of the remarkable ways to style your hair for the coming season is by using trendy hair jewelry, headbands, or head scarves.  If you’re like me, using headbands, headscarves, or head jewelry is foreign to you, which is why I’ve included pictures below to show you fun ways to properly use them to compliment not only your hair, but also your outfit.  (Gold accents on your bag/ jewlery = gold head jewelry/scarves/headbands and silver accents on your bag/shoes = silver head jewelry/scarves/headbands.)

I hope that you enjoyed my pick for hair color trends fall 2020 as well as last year’s hairstyles and hair trends.  Stay tuned for more highlight ideas and winter hair colors for the upcoming year!  As someone with light brown hair and who is super impatient at the hair salon, my favorite is the front frame style, as it usually costs me under $100 per salon visit and makes the most dramatic difference in my appearance.
